Granting “Create Document” rights on a per user AND per universe basis
Business Objects cleans up data providers properly when DPs are deleted from a document before being purged (or does this really work now in BO 5.1.4?)
Business Objects allows users to store their own predefined conditions (similar to UDOs)
Webi allows using formulas
Webi finally can deal properly with different paper sizes
Webi SDK finally can deal with custom LOVs properly
Webi SDK finally can deal with detail objects only in a query
BCA allows publishing of documents in PDF format to corporate documents (or did I miss this somehow somewhere?)
ZABO performs satisfactoy when accessing the BO repository (e.g. retrieving Corp documents) instead of being slow or timing out with an error message (or has this been improved a lot in BO 5.1.4?)
Variables that are deleted from a document clean themselves up and no longer appear in the variables list and/or you don’t have to click on each tab of a document in order to rely upon the accuracy of the message that appears when you delete a variable.
You can use the arrow keys to move things a pixel at a time to line stuff up on a page.
You can unlink more than one document/universe at a time by selecting one and holding the ctrl key to select others. Currently you can only do one at a time.
Let me tell dataproviders not to relink automatically if I edit a query. ARGH!
Boy will THIS be an awesome cool thread! We can keep it going and present it to TPTB at BO
A common request is the ability to set up variables in a universe so that they are propagated when the universe is exported. That would allow developers to create pre-defined variables than can be drag-n-dropped onto a report.
Or how about another favorite: add additional features to @Prompt(), where the current choices are MONO/MULTI and FREE/CONSTRAINED. I would like to see MONO/MULTI/OPTIONAL, where if the user leaves the prompt blank the condition (object, whatever) is removed from the SQL (but not from the query, obviously), and FREE/CONSTRAINED/VALIDATED where if the user does not want to be forced to pick from a list, they can enter a value. But before the query is run, their entry is validated against the list of values. Both of those would be very well received, I would imagine.
And I can’t believe nobody has mentioned, “Convert REP to XLS” ! ! !
Using the … button to point a data provider to a new universe can be a pain. You hit the … button and choose the new universe and when you say ‘OK’ the cursor pops back up to the first data provider. If you were changing #10 of 20, this is irritating. I wish the cursor would stay on the one you just changed when you hit ‘OK’.
Okay, so this topic is a good concept or exercise for a “Moderator” decision. This really isn’t a Supervisor topic. So where does it go? I was going to put it into Deployment, but I think that’s a bit of a misnomer. So I might rename Deployment to Deployment / General Discussion so that it does make sense to move.
Me… oh oh yeah! And highlight a bunch of them and hover over the right border of ONE and double click to appropriately size ALL of them…like Excel. Or I guess just give us the ability to download the finished report to Excel from full client or Webi 'cause Excel is a much better tool for formatting, formula generation, etc…wouldn’t you agree Dave? Dave? DAVE?
About the location of this… I would LOVE to see it somewhere on its own somehow. I can see it getting a lot of traffic. I’ve personally already saved the URL off so I can visit it when something pops up.
Supervisor rights per group vs most restrictive (e.g., I can publish in one group, but not in another)
Multiple selects in WebI
Native iTM1 (OLAP) drivers
Some builtin server monitoring tools for WebI & BCA
a cheaper pricing model
I’ll second these also:
Variable creation in WebI
Unused variables that clean up themselves
REP --> XLS
You might want to look at the Business Objects website. There is an add on product (I believe) that is Business Objects Web Services and I believe it can output to xml. I had looked at it because we were interested in possibly using xml as a source for our data provider. I don’t remember the details…but here is the link and there are a couple of white papers there too!
Code for doing scan and repair. Whether its SQL, PL/SQL, t-sql, whatever. Having this would allow automatically scheduling a scan and repair.
Privileges handled differently. Maybe something similar to the way privileges are handled in a database environment. For example you have object privileges and system privileges. This privileges are granted to a group/role or directly to a user. A user could belong to multiple groups/roles. If any privilege is granted, the user has that privilege regardless of the groups/roles they have.
The property tabsheets for formatting Tables, Crosstab, Charts could be reorganized. New users, who may be more familar with MS Excel, have difficult time changing property settings in BusObj tables, crosstabs and charts
I agree. I just hope people keep in mind that V6 is starting Beta now. They’re looking at quite a long time before these suggestions will make it into the product.
Variables in WebI
Multiple Data providers in WebI
Rep to XLS (90% sure)
Save As v5
ACL type document security. (e.g. You can edit that one, but you can only refresh the other one.)
From what I’ve seen, I think we’re all going to be pretty happy with it.
