Why does the ASUG Events website still say that the NY Metro UG meeting is on 6/14/11? And the event has been inactive for a while now?!

We are not part of ASUG so I am unsure what that meeting is about. I know that there is a small SAP user group in NYC but they are not BONYMAUG.

csievert :denmark: (BOB member since 2002-06-17)

Oh okay, interesting! I didn’t know BONYMAUG was separate from the ASUG NYC chapter. Will you be posting more info about the UG meeting on this thread once ready?

sdeshpan :us: (BOB member since 2005-06-28)

Yes we will be, in fact there should be a further update in the next week or so.

Dear Chris so the date is confirmed?

Yes it is.

Sorry for the delay in responding, took a couple days off!

csievert :denmark: (BOB member since 2002-06-17)

Our company is interested in attending the BONYMAUG 2011 conference but we have a few questions. I know it says on the forum there is no charge to register but is there a charge to attend the event? Also, what date do we need to have our attendees register by?

m.cahill (BOB member since 2011-08-19)

there is no charge at all for registering, being part of the community or attending the events!

you can register whenever you want including on-site but we do appreciate having folks register ahead of time so we have a sense of what our room sizes need to be as well as how much breakfast food might be needed.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. The agenda is almost done and it is looking pretty strong.

I look forward to meeting you!
Chris

Is ther going to be another BONYMAUG meeting soon!

I wish we were more like the Chicago Chapter. They seem to have them a few times a year and the discussions are spot on what everyone is doing with Business Objects.

Wish I can go to one of the someday :frowning:

I checked with the steering committee and details will be coming soon on a meeting that isn’t too far off.

Stay tuned to this space!

We schedule the Chicago SAP Business Objects User Group meetings quarterly. I just don’t get them all posted on B:mrgreen:B. Our success is based on an even split on our steering committee of contractors and employees. The steering committee typically takes turns getting the company they are working at to donate the hosting location of the meetings. Members who can host meetings are requested to join the steering committee if we need more meeting locations. Meetings are always on a Friday morning, away from any holidays, and avoid the last two Fridays in each quarter. SAP has traditionally had trouble making it to events in the last two weeks of each quarter. Membership and meeting attendance is always free.

We have some very large companies in the Chicago area that use SAP Business Objects and have meeting room facilities for our usual 100 to 150 person meetings. Each of them is limited to one member on the steering committee. We also have our own website http://www.chiboug.org hosted for free by the consulting company I used to work for. I pay for the URL fees. The website holds the membership list within itself. Anyone can join or remove their name from the list whenever they want. Only the chapter president and the site administrator (me) have access to send email through the website so there is zero spam and a maximum of 3 or 4 emails per quarter sent to the membership. The website also has our meeting sign-up area and a copy of any presentations that are allowed to be in the public domain from each meeting.

SAP presents at every meeting and is given 1 hour for their presentation. They let us know what topic they are covering and we attempt to coordinate the meeting around that topic. That is why our meetings are always spot on. All other presentations are performed by the membership. Some meetings have networking breaks, some have presentations from consulting companies (we try to limit these) and we try to not follow the exact same format for every meeting as it gets boring for the membership. ASUG leadership is present at most meetings as well. They focus most of the ASUG Chicago meetings on the traditional SAP products and let us do our thing with Business Objects. There is a fair amount of cross-over in membership and that is encouraged.
