When I double click or Right click and select the Properties, the Properties window is not showing up. This is for all components and in all Xcelsius reports. I am using Xcelsius 2008. Under View–> Properties is Selected(Checked).
This was all working till few hours back. Properties have disappeared all of the sudden. I have even restarted the machine. Any Ideas to bring back the properties?
Hi,
probably the window is visible, but has wrong coordinates so you don’t see it.
You can reset Xcelsius windows to their default positions this way:
close all instances of Xcelsius
“Start” button ->Run…
In the dialog type regedit
In the registry editor, find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Xcelsius\Settings
and delete it
Close the registry editor
Now start Xcelsius, and you should be able to see and use the properties window

Thanks, thats a handy “hack” to know, just in case.
Unfortunately that is not what is happening in this case.
The properties window is visible, it just does not show me the properties of the component that I have selected, it is “stuck” showing the properties of the canvas.
Sorry for the late reply. In my case the properties was not showing up until I move the Mouse/cursor to Right scrollbar on the window. It is kind of weird though that the properties are always hiding until I move the cursor there.
I just figured out…it is because the properties window is in ‘Auto hide’ Once I expanded it, I clicked on the ‘Auto hide’ icon(looks like ‘small bell’ on top of properties window), the properties window stays on.
I just encountered a similar situation where I could not find my properties window. The problem was created by me when I made the following combination of changes: First, I changed the properties window to float instead of being embedded in the Xcelsius desktop window. Second, due to an unrelated issue, I had switched my monitors position in the Windows XP Display Properties: Settings dialog box. I work with two monitors and changing monitor positions caused my properties window to float out of view.
Deleting the Settings folder under Regedit, Applications as suggested did not help. Restarting the computer did not help. Reinstalling Xcelsius 2008 did not help. Finally I went back to my Windows XP Display Properties: Settings dialog box, switched the monitor positions, and viola, there was my floating properties window. I dragged it back into the Xcelsius desktop window, switched my monitors back, and now Im good to go.
Hi Gary,
deleting the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Xcelsius\Settings
in the registry should always reset windows to default position. You just need to make sure that all Xcelsius instances are closed before you delete the regedit key - otherwise it does not work.
