Installing BOE and Data Services Web-Tier together

Hi All,

We are installing BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 SP3 Web-Tier and Data Services 3.2 Web-Tier on the same machine.

I tried installing BOE Web-Tier first and later install DS Web-Tier using BOE Tomcat. BOE web applications work but not the DS Management Console.
Comes up with 404 error pointing to http://:8080/DataServices. (please note it points to 8080 instead of 28080)

I have gone through Data Integrator 3.0 Management console not working Topic.

Tried Manual deployment of war files and debug error after error as indicated in the post above, but was not successful.

Has anyone successfully done such a configuration.
I can redesign the architecture rather than try to debug the problem, but wanted to find out if anyone has been successfull.

So is your Tomcat page gets loaded?

Also another dumb question. But just wanted to confirm. Did you restarted the Tomcat after everything is done?

Hi Ganesh,

The tomcat page comes up http://servername:8080.
Boe infoview and cmc works as expected on the same machine.

I restarted the whole machine after installation. Hence, tomcat is also restarted.

Appreciate if you can give any ideas/views.

Also, Manoj would have commented at many places that Data Services folder should be there in the TOMCAT folder and stuff in many of his related post. Please check them too.

Hi Ganesh,

I have gone through that Topic.
Dataservices folder is not present, meaning war files are not deployed.
But, manual deployment also fails and there is no workaround to install war files in any other way.

What error comes up during manual deploy? Would you post it? Probably Manoj should give an idea from then 8)

Hi Ganesh,

Having 2 problems -
1.
I get error as “Access Denied” followed by Java file.io errors.
I donot have a screenshot of the error but its same as in the Topic Data Integrator 3.0 Management console not working

Even though DS web-Tier installation was successfull, the DataServices war files were not deployed. This is very Intriguing.

Any thoughts???

Also,
When i tried to Install Web-Tier on a machine that already has DS installed, it uninstalled all other components and installed only Web-Tier.

Has anyone encountered this before or am i making any stupid mistake?

However, since, we were in an urgency to complete the task, we have changed the architecture to seperate out Web-tier of BOE and Web-Tier of DS.

Please do update if you can figure out a way, as this may help others.
