Error with Xcelsius 2008 SP1

Hi all,

Has anyone come across any issues using Xcelsisu 2008 SP1, available from the ESD?

It installed fine, but when I try and run it in Vista Business x64, I get a ‘Failed to create empty document’ and then a Windows message ‘This program requires a missing Windows component’, which turns out to be flash.ocx.

I reinstalled Flash from the Adobe website but that didn’t help.

Anyone else have this issue?

Cheers

I installed SP1 and when I opened an existing model the formatting and colors were all goofy and some of the mapping was gone. When I uninstalled Xcelsius and reinstalled without the service pack, all of my connection mappings were gone. We are trying to work with support now.

Hi,
if you go to this page,
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507
does it show that you have flash installed?
How do you know that it’s flash missing? Do you have Excel installed on this machine?

Hi,

Sorry, here are some screenshots to demo the problem.

1.jpg shows what happens when I first open Xcelsius 2008 SP1.
2.jpg shows the next screen - if I get help from Microsoft, they just tell me to reinstall Flash, which didn’t work.
3.jpg shows the results from the website you pointed me to, which tells me that the latest version of Flash is installed.

Office 2007 is also installed.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Just to add that I successfully resolved this issue. I removed all instances of Adobe Flash, then removed Xcelsius 2008 SP1.

I then rebooted, and reinstalled Xcelsius 2008 SP1. This installs a version of Adobe Flash with it.

Xcelsius 2008 then successfully started.

Thanks!

Hi All,

If is possible, could you send me the website address to download this SP for Xcelsius 2008?

Thanks & Regards!

The service pack is available from the Business Objects ESD. If you purchased Xcelsius 2008, you would have downloaded the original installation files from the ESD site.

Here is the link for CX 2008 SP1. Its a full install, so if you have purchased CX 2008 earlier, please unistall and install the CX 2008 SP1. When it prompts to enter the Key Code, type in your Original Key code that you received when you purchased CX 2008.

In talking with an Engineer from BO they told me not to deinstall first just run the setup, it has the ability to deinstall then reinstall SP1.

By doing the deinstall first, it caused a problem with logging into the enterprise system.

I also asked for a What was fixed, and was told by the same source that it was decided not to create one as 900+ bugs were fixed. The biggest thing I have seen so far is that the tab mgmt issue has been fixed and the freezing on “loading components” has been fixed.
