Hi,
When I login to BO XI designer. I get the following error.
“Cannot reach the repository”. If click on details it states the following.
amsdc1-s-8084:6400 (server name) cannot be found on the network
Please verify the name and that network name is working properly. Please let me know the solution. It is urgent.

Hi,
Verify whether your CMS is running or stooped.

Hi,
There are three, out of which two are showing running status always.
WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service is showing stopped. I have started it. But agian after sometime it shows stopped. Now I have restarted it. Any way I’m unable to login to the designer.
FYI I’m using BO XI 3.1

Hi Manju,
Try this,
When you try to login you have
system:
Username:
Password:
Authentication:
Instead of the server name provide the IP of the Server in the following format.
system: IP:6400
and then try to login.

Now can you try this…
[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Transport error: Communication failure.
(hr=#0x80042a01)
On the server
Control panel/Network connections/advanced from the menu bar on the open window/ advanced settings/ adapters and bindings
Move the order up; of the LAN you want to use.
If then also it doesnot work then
Do this i’m sure it’ll work:
Go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
open Hosts text file
and add the ip of your server along with the Server name.
Save it and close it.
then try logging into the designer now.
I hope this will do the needful.
Cheers,
One more thing check if you are using VPN.

Hi,
The changes to host file has been done before itself. But no luck. The server changes is out of my scope. Any way I did it… But I don’t know or understand what to do with move to the order up of LAN.
Any other solution please. Thanks for helping me.

Manju,
Please check with the server firewall team whether any ports are blocked to the Database.
This error occurs when the port is blocked and the sever doesnt allow you to communicate.
Is this the first time you login ? or have you Logged in before ?
Thanks.

Hi Manju,
Give a Try asking the Network system guys whether they have applied any security patches on your machine or at sever. Just a try !!! I remember i was having the same issue because of firewall.
Thanks !!!

I guess no.
This is a client tool and it depends on 2 things.
BO server
tns names.
Request you to look deeply into the Universe Connection topic.
why ports are used blah blah…
refer to this http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~rakerman/port-table.html
I hope this helps.

Shiva

In my case, I had to add an entry in the SERVERS HOST file. I believe the reason is, the server is multihomed.
