DESKI shuts down on Save or Export

I have a user with a problem that seems to be specific to his particular machine.
He has successfully retrieved a document from the repository. He then changes the options for the report to refresh on open.
When he clicks on the save button before sending the report back to the repository he gets rudely turfed from the program. No error message, no nothing. The application just shuts down and does not save the changes made.
I can do this to the report from my machine logged in as either administrator or as the user with no difficulty, so I know it’s not a security issue, but most likely the machine itself. I have tried doing the same with another report from the same folder in the repository and it’s ok.
Not sure if there is an issue with the users machine, the report being corrupt or something else entirely. According to him, it’s happening on a number of reports.
I have also emptied his .tmp files and checked how much disk he has available (lots), but nothing has helped.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

To narrow down the problem, try creating a test report from the same PC and export to repository.

I too faced the same problem but the application closes after refresh, and it happens on any client PC not just one.
Even have a case opened with BO.They said that this happens if there are no values selected for any filter applied on the block.

I have the same issues, though sometimes DeskI will even close itself at other times as well, such as when I just refresh a report. It is very inconsistent and very frustrating. Have you found a solution for your end user yet?

Yes Tracy We did get a solution.
I ended up having to totally uninstall BO from the user’s machine (including registry entries) Reboot. Reinstall everything, and then put the patch on.
It took awhile to figure it through, but it did work

Hi Guys,
I have found the fix,
http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/critical_hot_fixes/default.asp

download the critical hot fix and install on your PC, this will fix the saving to a directory where you don’t have write permission to the route, and install on the server to fix the export to the server problem.

it fixes bug ADAPT00774477 which is described in the documentation.

ADAPT00774477 Patch ID: 40,093,266
Description:
Desktop Intelligence terminates unexpectedly after users save, import, or export a report if they don’t have rights to the root
folder of the directory where the report is stored.
This problem happens with reports that are larger than 1.5MB.
New Behavior:
This problem is resolved.

Any idea if one can install the FP on the PC without having the server at the same FP level? We’ve got a few folks running in to this issue, and are a couple months into our migration with lots more installing every day… so patching the server and bringing everyone else not having this problem up to 2.4 isn’t an option.

Thanks!

We were advised to go fo FP 2.2 to fix the issue.
We actually went to 2.3

Yes you can upgrade the client independently for the server.
We had ours mismatched for about a month.
