Business Objects SAP is going worse than Apple with these short lived releases.
I dont know who is making these decision but whoever it is they should atleast hold and release one major release instead of current trend of releasing new version every quarter.

XI 4.0 (code named Aurora) is scheduled to be released in October 2010. A general rule of thumb is that you do not want to get on any “.0” release and it does not pay to be on the “bleeding edge”. Give it 6 months or so for most of bugs to be fixed, and hopefully XI 4.1 will be out by then.
But of course, you should download it and test it, as soon as it is available to public. But I don’t recommend upgrading to it right away in Production. So, you should upgrade to XI 3.1 for now.

…and don’t expect FULL features in the initial release of 4.0 - some Features are normally not available until after a fix-pack or service pack to 4.1 (eg. .NET SDK, etc).
