any idea on release date?

Interesting link, but how reliable of a source is that?

Hmm…

I would sit tight for official announcements and collateral from the horse itself. The data in this listing is not entirely plausible I don’t think.

Hmm - looking through the anticpated changes, many of them do make sense - I just wonder where he got the information from.

If the changes are to be believed then I think the vendor should release this information asap as a general roadmap as there are implications for the development and customisation realm that could incur redevelopment costs for the customer.

Following the beta program so probably around october …

Quite strange to promote such confidential info!

Product is scheduled for ramp-up early Q4 and plan for GA release end of December.

As if we needed further confirmation…

Yeah, I noticed that. Strangely worded. I would have expected something like “Universe Designer actions based on DeskI functionality (Query Panel, launch Desktop Intelligence), and Deski-only LOV options, are no longer supported”.

Will Designer really still have the query panel after DeskI is gone?

joepeters :us: (BOB member since 2002-08-29)

It could be that this only refers to Tools/Desktop Intelligence from Designer, and that the QP part stays - albeit only available though Designer.

Nick Daniels :uk: (BOB member since 2002-08-15)

I took this as they are just removing the dropdown menu:
TOOLS > RUN DESKTOP INTELLIGENCE

Chris Pohl :us: (BOB member since 2002-06-18)

That is my expectation as well.

Wow, I would really like to know the Provenance of that list.

Calling it “New Features !” is more than a little misleading since it is actually a list of Deprecated Features.

The loss of Audit default samples, 32 bit .NET SDK, BOE Java SDK and some of the other ADMIN tools will be painful for many customers.

MJRBIM :canada: (BOB member since 2007-03-23)

The sample reports are rubbish, the universe could easily be created…maybe the underlying audit database has changed substantially.

Nick Daniels :uk: (BOB member since 2002-08-15)

Nice to see Search techniques (Advanced, Content) are getting refined.

Another good feature -

Customizations done in this file will not be overwritten by patches.

No need to replace customized web.xml after SP/FP installation.

Really Confused
Either this is an updated version or version with losing many features and adding a little
Is the fellow, Kapil Malik is on B  B here? He is the best person to clarify our doubts :o

Thanks

I agree that the current AUDIT reports are sub-standard, but the fix I would expect is for SAP-BOBJ to improve the default samples - not remove them all together.

MJRBIM :canada: (BOB member since 2007-03-23)

The best way to improve auditing is to open up the system database (a.k.a. CMS database). Being able to query the repository directly like we did in version 5.x helped us tremendously.
