I am getting this error when i try to open a report created by me. FRM0008 you are not authorised to open it. I read some posts about it and it says it generally happens when you export a report to repository and then delete it. Thats actually what i did but i have this report still on my desktop though it doesnt let me open it. Any inputs?
Just so that everyone finds it handy for their future reference i found the answer to this post. The reason for this error is that when you export a report to the repository and delete it from there then it goes into self lock mode with that secret ID thats why it gives you this error there is almost no way to retrieve it.In XI versions usually some people no longer use superviser module like me. If you use it perfect, open the report giving this error by logging in as supervisor save it as another name and while saving select “save for all users”. But like in my case i am using XI version. To retrieve the report in XI go to programmefile/BO/BO11.5/filestore/input sort it by the date you can roughly think you exprted it. Then open each report under that date it would have some weird report name but you will still find it. Or just search *.rep in my computer and sort it by that date.
Thanks… This post saved my sanity… I had a petty involved report that I didn’t migrate to a new server/upgrade because they users ask to not have it removed during the upgrade. Now they wanted it back (8 months later) and I could not open it (FRM0008). It was cumbersome, but I only had to go thru the firs 31 directories to find the report and was able to open and export the report! I’ll sleep better to night.
Can u please guide me how to resolve this issue. You mentioned Programmefile/BO/BO11.5/filestore/input. You mean i need to search on my local system? or else i need to logon as supervisor. If so how should i login to supervisor mode.
I tried to search on my local system but i couldn’t find the path.By the way my BO XI r2 is sitting on unix not on windows.

U have to search it on the system on which BO is installed. You dont have to log in as a supervisor. You can even go to start and under search, look for *.rpt files and once the search is completed sort it according to the date and look for files with long weird names.
Hope this helps…
Is there any other way of recovering a DeskI report in XIR2?
I have got a DeskI report which was created against a CMS which no longer exists. It had to be rebuilt due to some issues.
Now I cant open the report I had created/exported to the old CMS. Hadnt saved it for all users. Is there some other way like editing the DeskI binary in a hexadecimal editor… :?
