We are using Business Objects XI Release 2.
We have created a report in Deski. This report is exported to public folders in the repository.
By mistake we deleted the report from public folders. Now we are unable to open the local copy of the report that is local .rep file in the local machine. We get error " You are not authorized to view the doument(FRM0008)".
While saving the report the Save for All Users" option was checked.
This issue is already discussed in the forum topics.
But no resolution has been specified in the posts.
It has been specified that to avoid this problem we can have a back up of the .rep files in the local m/c other than the one that is exported.
Is this the only possibility?
Please provide suggestions on how to resolve this issue…
In my opinion, this is a HUGE flaw in this release. Save for All users is not a solution here. This simply tells the report that it hasn’t been published. When you then publish it, the security bit is set. Now that you have unpublished it, it’s locked.
I still have not found a way in XI to fix this. In this case, they have taken security too far. There is no “General Supervisor” id that can resolve this.
Might have a fix but its a bit messy! Surprise Surpirse another bug !! More teddies out the pram but this fix will be in SP2 due out mid next year.
Any this is straight from of of the senior tech guys
hope this helps
Create a new document from the same universe as the report which is locked, it can be a simple document. Export it to a folder or a category you can remember easily
Go to the CMC in the “Objects” section and find this new document in your list of objects. Go to the Document properties and see the physical name and path of the binary object into your file store, for example : frs://Input/a_138/002/000/650/aspv1zmgkojaidezafajr.c.rep
If you know the path to your FileStore Input folder, then go to that path, if you don’t know where is your Input folder you can look in the CMC, into Servers section, click on the module named “Input.”, in the properties of this Input module you will see the full UNC path of your File store.
Once in the subfolder Input/a_138/002/000/650/ take away the rep file with a weird name, but don’t delete it, you can put it in a backup folder.
Copy the blocked rep file and rename it exactly as the document which was there so in this case “aspv1zmgkojaidezafajr.c.rep”.
In Deski, open the “Import from Repository” dialogbox and search for the document you created in step 1 from the folder or category you exported it to. Import this document and you will actually see the exact content of the blocked report.
You can of course rename this document as you wish and re-export it to the repository.
We have requested that we still have access similar to what is in 518. We have an ADAPT#00668258. We want the administrator to still have the capability to unlock reports.
If you are looking to jump on the band wagon please request your Sales team to push for this resolution. We keep getting pushback that this is by design.
When this occurs because you delete the report from the repository, i have noticed that if you have the report open in DESKI at the same time then you can save this - ensuring that you check the save for all users checkbox - and open the report without any issues at all.
