Good day all,
I want to get our BO Crystal Reports server up to the most current version applicable and would like to determine what needs to be applied. When I log onto the Business Objects Enterprise Central Managment Console, go to About, I get the following:
Product: 11.0
Copyright © 2004 Business Objects, Inc
I believe I should get to R1 or R2 but an not sure. This server has not been patched at all as far as I know.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Kimberly

The best place to get your install version is from the Servers - CMS - Metrics. Then take that version and look it up in this post.
XI R2 will not be supported after June 30, 2011 so if you are upgrading you should go to the latest 3.1 release which is currently SP3 plus FixPacks. I believe there is an SP4 due out pretty soon as well.

Ran thru all the areas required to obtain our version info and it looks to me like we are on XI R1. So, I have download boxiwin_sp3.zip from SAP which I beleive we get me to R2 but am not sure, browsing and finding patches and updates is a bit frustrating. Here is my current install info:

Is there actuall an ‘R2’ download or is it the SP3 for ‘R1’? I have attached the screen shot of my search results for updates on R1.
Thank you in advcance for your help.

You should upgrade to “!SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 SP3” (= XI R3 with SP3) IMHO

Thank you.
So, based on my posting about the version we are currently running would you or someone else be able to tell me exactly what the update steps s/b, meaning first apply R2, with SP’s then R3 with SP’s? Navigating the SAP downloads/SP’s/Releases is a bit nasty, at least to this newbie. I have been using Crystal Reports for 10 years and have had the BO server running nicely now for about 4 years but have not experienced patching/upgrading the BOXI server yet. Might even engage a consultant for some help if needed.
Thank you all for your help.

You will need to upgrade to XI R2 SP2 first then you can upgrade to any future release. 3.x does not ‘upgrade’ your R2 install, it goes in a new directory structure and you need to migrate your content to 3.x. You should consider installing 3.x on a new server versus doing what SAP calls a ‘side-by-side’ install.
The upgrade docs for 3.x are pretty good.
