[XI R3.2] CMC and GUI response times very slow

The response times of the web based CMC gui and certain components of the full client gui are so slow that BO is almost unusable.

CMC - in the CMC certain modules like the Instance Manager are so slow that I can hardly use them. Creating or modifying a schedule can take ages.

  1. Whenever a user list has to be generated it is particularly painful and slow. For example on a schedule, when selecting the Formats and destination section of a schedule or the Schedule For it can take upwards of a minute to respond.

The Tomcat java memory stack has been set to 1024MB.

  1. In Deski, invoking the scheduler is near on useless. It can take several minutes to respond.

  2. Importing a report from the FRS can take a minute to even start responding.

  3. Invoking the list of users in order to Send to can take a long time too.

Has anyone else experienced any of this?

I would just like to add to this:

When I work within the CMC as Administrator everything works quite quickly and the system is responsive.

When I work within the CMC (Instance Manager) as a user with restrictions, it is so slow that you can’t even use it. It really takes about 30 seconds between mouse clicks on tasks, especially those where a list of users or instances has to be generated.

Has anyone else experienced this?

BOXI 3.2 on Solaris, tomcat.

Add a switch to the CMC startup of -maxobjectsincache 10000 (or a number representative of your user base. We use 10000 for 500 users and 1000 reports in folders)

Also switch Tomcat compression on and try using Firefox as your browser. It is noticeably quicker than IE.
