XI 3.1 Service Pack 2 (Client Tools Only)

I searched on this and found nothing useful on this exact issue.
Has anyone run into errors while installing the Enterprise XI 3.1 Client Tools Only SP2 on WinXP. I got the error on the MS KBA 925336 error about the msi file being too large.

The fix from the KBA only applies to Win2003 server (x86 & 64). Says there isn’t a fix for XP.

So how do I get the fixes from SP2 on the developer PC’s using the client tools? (designer and Rich client)

Never ran into this problem on previous releases. :?

We had the same problem. Go to the Microsoft site and search for that KB number. While you cannot install the microsoft server patch, there are 2 manual workarounds. One of them should work for you.

you’ll need to run SP2 directly:

. The file you downloaded from the CSP site is a big EXE file (about 650m)
. Watch when it first starts up … the first thing it does is extract everything to a Temp directory
(something like: c:\Documents and Settings(your logon id)\Local Settings\Temp\package)
. Go to that directory after you get the warning message
. Double Click BusinessObjectsClient.msp to run the install directly

You might also want to copy off that package directory if you want to install later or on another PC (it’ll save the extracting time)

Thanks, I ran the msp and worked perfectly. MS KB is junk, tried all the registry/manual settings and did not work.
