XI 3.1 for Windows 7 Professional

Hi Guys,

Trying to install XI 3.1 on Windows 7 Profesisional 64 bit, get a message

Only client components will be installed on Vista.

Found this from SAP BO Install guide

Any ideas? Surpised to see this message I thought Windows 7 Pro is same as Windows XP Pro.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I have also seen this message while installing on a Vista PC when I tried to do a full BO install on the machine to make it act as a server. This was something that worked well in XP, but won’t work on Vista and I guess now also Win7.

I would suggest that it will install the client components such as Rich Client, Designer, Deski etc but it will not create a CMS for you on that PC.
If you are trying make the PC act as a server, then it won’t work, however if you’re not, then let the install run through and see what happens.

Hi

Am trying to install on Windows 7 Professional, which supposed work same as Windows XP Pro. The message is SURPRISING…

When you install BO 3.1 on a Windows 7 OS the install thinks it is Vista, but you can ignore that message, go custom install and select all BO servers. That will install the whole lot.

Windows 7 Pro is not the same as XP Pro. So I don’t see why you are so surprised. It is not a supported platform, neither is XP Pro. :expressionless:
