I have dashboard which contains 5 tabs, and each tab shows some data in the form charts/tables. We have a department as a filter defined overall which brings the data dynamically to the dashboards. For every department selection the dashboard to be refreshed for all the 5 tabs.
There are about 20 WebI reports that power data to the dashboard so I’m thinking of using Live Office to bring the data. I also knew that we can use report instance and bring all the data into excel and then do a filter based on the selection, but I have to bring data for all the departments (I have about 20 departments).
I’m thinking of creating report instance for each department and make it ready to power the data to the dashboard, but wanted know that can report instance to be fetched based on the prompt selection? Means, if I select department 1, live office to retrieve data from instance from department 1, and if I select dept-2, live office to retrieve data from dept 2 instance and so on?
Note - My dashboard look and feel and report’s output is same for all 20 departments.
Please suggest the best method in retrieving the data other than hitting the database. If no options found, I would anyway to query the database for every prompt selection as I can’t bring all my departments data and do a filtering in my excel.
