BusinessObjects Board

Xcelsius conversion errors

While I’m doing a revamp - and prompted by other threads, I though I’d see if I could open my Xcelsius 2008 dashboard in SAP Business Objects Dashboards 4.1 SP5 (14.1.5.1501).

:reallymad: “Cannot Access External Data” with the usual useless #2032 error message.

Switch off all my connections except one. This runs a simple script that returns a load date for the warehouse. That works OK.

Add another connection back in. This one is more complicated and involves passing out a range to my script. Same XLF worked perfectly in Xcelsius 2008.

I don’t even know where to look to troubleshoot this!

Debbie

ETA: And no. Fiddler is not allowed here. 'Tis the spawn of the devil, you know?
ETA2: Seems to be any connection where I send a range out is failing. Connections without Enable Send checked are fine.

Do you have a copy of Dashboard Design for 4.1? If so, then I would open the dashboard in it and save it back to the server. In theory I think it would work. I cannot remember if we had issues going from 2008 to BI 4.0.

Not sure what you mean? It was a 2008 dashboard. I opened it in Dashboard Design 4.1 and none of my connections which send data will work. The others are fine.

I even tried saving the file to a different name in its new format and then re-opening in DD4.1. Still crashed.

I’m wondering if there’s a configuration or firewall tweak somewhere that needs to be made in the system. Something is stopping data being sent out of DD4.1.

Don’t have an answer, we do not send data from any of our dashboards. Sounds like SAP may need to get involved. Of course I know that Xcelsius 2008 dashboards seem to get corrupted for no apparent reason. Lots of Luck.

I think you will just have to add/remove connections and tweak at it until it takes. It’s an embedded SAP induced job security routine. Should work to your advantage most of the time. Besides, you get to be a hero.

I must remember this phrase. It can be used to described so many interesting quirks about the entire BO suite.
