This is now available for download in the SAP Service Marketplace (under installations).

Looks like it fixes a bug I reported to SAP back in January APT01549788

well…do you like it? Did it do bad things to your production swf’s on upgrade? Any installation problems? Why should people use it ? Do Tell us more…

So far, it looks good.

It didn’t break my scorecard component like moving to SP4 did, the bug I reported is fixed, otherwise, everything else looks like it’s working.

My users are now testing the same dashboard produced with SP4 (our live version) with the version I compiled with SP5 (our test version), and so far no discprepancies have been found. No one is complaining its slower, and everyone is finally happy that it’s now displaying custom number formats correctly. When they are happy with it, we’ll move the SP5 version to being live.

Can go straight from SP2 to SP5? SP4 broke everything and I went back to SP2.

The download appears to be a full install package, but I succesfully installed it over SP4 without issue.

It can be found in the SAP Service Marketplace under xcelsius installations, and not under the patches.

I might be wrong, but based on that image…

sp5 is not public yet. The OP is in a corporate account login…(based on that image). SAP does that alot (releases software privately) before putting online.

The “Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 5 Supported Platforms” document states that Xcelsius 2008 SP5 is supported with the following SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise platforms;

SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 SP5[/list]However it also states “Note: Only the two most recent service packs are supported for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise”.

Therefore, does this mean that an Xcelsius 2008 SP5 install is only effectively supported on SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP5 or SP4 platforms (but will run on earlier versions)?

I’ve sent emails to our SAP Account Manager regarding Xcelsius support but have no replies yet , hence this post.

xcelsius is a program that makes SWF’s, which are rendered by any version. You only run into compatibility problems when you want to use BOBJ connectors, like L.O. or QaaWS, or BIWS…or when you want use the export to Enterprise feature. In Dashboard 4, you can only export to BO 4. (but you can manually upload any version). My shop uses sp2 for Enterprise. Ive never really paid attention to what version of xcelsius is compatible.

*We are having trouble with personal SAP “account manager” (e.g. intern) as well. I have been looking for information about sp5 for a few weeks now, and cant even get the file…so if you have the .EXE then you are a step ahead. The documentation is out (as of Jan 9th, 2012), but the EXE is not public.

We use QaaWS so can therefore conclude that we should be supported (as we run SAP BOE 3.1 SP3 FP3.7) as the “Supported Platforms” doc states…

Is it me or are things becoming more and more confusing with each pending release?

I’ve managed to download the EXE but there’s no documentation relating to what’s in SP5 :? . EDIT: Now found in document “xi31_sp5_Release_Notes_en.pdf”

I see they still haven’t fixed the documentation. They state as a new feature something a lot of us have been asking for:

Wrap text support for scorecards
In scorecard components, text can be set to wrap within cells

But it’s not there, and SAP confirmed to me that the new “milestone” is SP6

I fear Dashboards 4. Even the name looks weird.
My company is moving to bobj4 in a couple months. All I see in the future is hundreds of files blowing up at the same time.

Anyway, currently as of today…SP5 is still not public.

The documentation as far as I can see is wrong. If the wrap text is available for you, please post screen shots so I can ask SAP why my copy of SP5 didn’t have it.

Issue: Is word wrap functionality for Scorecard present in Xcelsius
2008 Service Pack 5?

Environment:
Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 5

This is to inform you that I have installed Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack
5 on my machine and found that the word wrap functionality for
scorecard is not present in Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 5.

Following is the update that I received from the senior engineer:

The word wrap functionality for scorecard (ADAPT01550283) is not
provided in Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 5.
The development milestone for this functionality has been changed
from Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 5 to Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 6.

If the above mentioned information answers your questions, I would
request you to close the incident.

Let me know in case of any questions in future. Please note that I
work from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM PST.

whoops

I wrote blog post on a really stupid workaround for wrapping text in a scorecard. Its very painful, in fact its horrid…but it works.
