Hi … using Xcelsius 2008 with query as a web service as the data source and saving as swf file.

Refresh option Refresh Before Components are Loaded works ok when opening the swf file.

However, when viewing the swf file the displayed data never changes even after setting the Refresh Every option to 30 seconds. Should the displayed data change with no intervention by the user? If not, is there a way (the dashboard will be displayed on a monitor on the plant floor)?

It should. Did you set the “refresh” option in the web service to 1? If not, it is simply pulling the cached copy over and over.

You might want to use Fiddler or a similar app to monitor the connection and see if it is refreshing.

When I edit the query in Query as a Web Service and in Xcelsius 2008 Data Manager, Im not finding the Refresh option where is it located?

Hi,

(Lugh is thinking Web Services in BI4, which has the Refresh = 1 option. Fiddler is a good option for seeing if your dashboard is actually firing off the query…)

Setting the Refresh Every 30 seconds should refresh the data source in the dashboard. Does the data actually change when you manually refresh the QaaWS? Try placing a spreadsheet component on your dashboard setting it’s range to cover your data area and see if this is getting updated when you run your dashboard.
