Xcelsius 2008 - Excel Size Limitations?

Does anyone know of any size limitations on the Excel file for an Xcelsius presentation?

Current Process:
I’ve got a 1 mb excel file (supplied each month by another group) that I import into an Xcelsius presentation and export out to a flash file. Works great. (XLF File Size - 1mb, Excel File Size - 1.1 mb)

New Process:
I am now receiving a ‘New and Improved’ Excel doc that is 7mb in size (supposed to grow bigger over time). I can import this into Excelsius but when I try to export out to a flash presentation, I’m getting a runtime error. (XLF File Size - 3.8 mb, Excel File Size - 7.7 mb)

This is still in development and I haven’t gotten all of my controls remapped yet.

Not sure if the runtime error is because the file size increase or if it might be because everything isn’t mapped in yet.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Are there not unsupported formulas in your new excel file ??? I encountered such errors when I used unsupported forumulas…

It is possible. I’m still working through it. It has 20 tabs wiht 200 + rows of data on each. Lots of formulas to work through.

Hi There,

The runtime error is a known issue with xlf files in xcelsius; the xlf files will not compile and give run time error if the size is too huge either due to lot of compoents used or due to huge xls file; to avoid this you need more powerful machine example a one with 4GB of RAM will do.

There is no limit for the file size of excel,xlf,swf files; but w.r.t to xls there is row limit of 65,000 approx.

I am facing a similar issue. My file size is 500KB but I am using a lot of filters, the number of filtered rows exceeds 4000 via multiple filters and growing…any ideas how I can resolve the runtime error. I am unable to export the file.

I am setting the maximum row limit to 60K and using 9 live office connections and approx 40K rows of data will get populated in Excel after which i am doign a vlookup to populate the spreadsheet component in Xcelsius.
I am able to import this Excel file but the moment i do a preview i get the following error…
“An error occured during swf file generation.For more information contact your file creator or system administrator.”

I have even tried to reduced the row limit to 25K but still the same error. :hb:

This is far too big for Xcelcius to handle :blue: . 500 rows is recommended, you are dealing with the limitations of a Flash file after all.

20 tabs :roll_eyes: 60K rows :shock:

I try to keep this under a few tabs
Master, Qaaws, Filter, Data1, data2 Tab

And max 768 Rows which seems to work fine for me.
Please keep in mind that this is to show KPI data and is not good at datamining
