Hiiii,
Can any one pls tell me is this one has to do some thing with the Service Pack,we do have SP2 and we can see these type of errors, but when i read SP4 and searcged for this perticular WIS error its not there,is that mean its not going to solve (or) do i have to contact with the BO team.
Please let me know the answer, i need to report it in 2 days.

Thanks in advance,
Madhu.

Madhu,
I don’t think this has something due to the SP. It sounds like you are having network problems with perhaps a “drop out” between connection of the apps and RDBMS servers. Have you looked at any of your logs, or turned -trace on a selective server(s) to see if any comments pop in that can give you a better clue?

Thanks,
John

Hi John,
First of all Thank you and sorry,i wasnt here so i coundt get to you back, well in that case ,I never did the tracing before can you pls help me out what exactly i have to do to figure this out.
One more thing that i just want to mention here is , this error is not so frequent error, this is unexpected error ,this will happen may be once in a week, for me i can count on fingures in 5years ,most of it happens only with the trained users. Do they do some thing wrong which this might caused? I have no clue please help me out.

Thanks,
Madhu.

Madhu,

To add trace, in the CCM you stop the server in question, right-click and go to properties and on the command line add the option " -trace", then click OK, then restart it. But before you go plugging this in all over the place, please read on…

If that is the case, then it sounds like a problem that happens so infrequently it will be hard to nail down. To me, it sounds like a timeout, meaning the user was on the system and didn’t do something for like 20 minutes (if 20 min is your timeout setting), then when they go to do something, poof, and they’ll swear that they hadn’t been idle for 20 minutes. Of course, you’re not over their shoulder the whole time with a stopwatch to prove it to them that they were away too long, hence the yelling and screaming. One thing I always advocate to users is to “save as you go”, even if you think you’re crusing around without a care in the world, each time you save you minimize the risk of burps – online over the web is not the same as client/server which a lot of us grew up on, so saving as you go may be a new behavior to learn, but well-worth it in the long run.
Thanks,
John

  1. Kool,
This sounds resonable, okay i will try that, reg the time out stuff ,we did had a problem with the webi time out before ,but we changed some of the parameters in config file and CMC parameters too,now it seems lik time out has been corrected.
This happened after the time out is being corrected ,as you said i will advise them to save doc as much as poss.
To let you know ,the user has a report in which he has 4 tabs ,he opend it and immediately deleted one tab and tried to save it and he got the problem, i just wrote a request mail to the users that to save the doc as much as poss.

Thanks a lot,I appreciate it,
Madhu.
