We are still using BO 4.1.5. Is it true that Business Objects does not support BO 4.1.x with Windows 2000? We have users who have upgraded their operating systems to Win 2000 and still seem to be running BO 4.1.x w/o any trouble.
We are also using BusinessQuery for MS Excel. Although I haven’t tried it myself yet, I’ve heard that MS Excel 2000 does NOT load with the BO 4.1.x versions. Anyone else experience that?
I’d appreciate hearing how others have fared w/using BO 4.1.x and Windows 2000.
Jonathan,
This is what I got from a customer about this problem. Does it apply to your case? Did you find another solution? Thanks for letting us know.

*** Solution*** :
I realized BO most likely had a problem finding the Oracle path on my PC. I checked the registry, and found an entry for ORACLE_HOME. I then thought that BO was having a problem reading the registry, so I manually added ORACLE_HOME as an environment variable and it worked.
I have just been upgraded to Windows 2000 professional My Oracle database is now Personal 8i.
I have been trying to install BO 5.0.3.
The install seems fine and the check middleware works but,
I cannot attach to any Oracle databases (personal for repository creation for date or remote repositories or databases). I don’t have immediate access to any non-Oracle data sources.
I get the SB0001 message that the server is not responding but no Oracle error messages. Copies of other peoples BOMain.key do not help. I have tried going through supervisor and setting up a new connection and I have tried BO offline and connecting using freehand SQL. The problem is the
same
every time. SB0001 comes up immediately every time. The list of BO data access items is shown but no error messages.
All my Oracle services are up. Net8 is configured. I can connect with SQL*Plus.
I run both of these applications on my laptop which is Win 2k Pro. I have had no problems with either. Did you install Win 2k and then Designer/Supervisor or did you upgrade a win98 to win2k?
using Win200 sp2 and not a bit of trouble with reporter, zabo, designer, supervisor
I do have users that were on sp1 and they have trouble with importing/exporting excel
I’m having them reinstalled on sp2.
