Wildcard search in query prompt

Hello,

How do you do a wildcard search in a query prompt? When the filters are defined in the universe (BI 4.1 SP2 unx) we can do wildcard searches. We can even do the wildcard search when the we are building the queries in Xcelsisus. What we can’t do though is a search when we put the query prompt on the canvas. The search only seems to work when we type in the exact match for what we are looking for; kind of defeats the purpose of the search. I don’t want to change my filters in the universe, currently Equals (these are single values), to be Matches Pattern because the filters are used in other places where I don’t want the pattern match.

Thanks,
K

Hi,

Well, I you can’t/don’t want to change filters from Equals to Matches Pattern then you will not succeed in what you are after.

WebI query operator “Equals” is translated into “=” in the final SQL whilst “Matches Pattern” is turned into “Like”. So if you know SQL language, you should understand that wildcard search with “Equals” will not work.
