I have a problem with connection server and dllhost on my webi server. We are running win 2k with SP4 with IIS v6 and 4 Gig memory and dual xeon processor, Business Objects v6.5.1. At the moment all users are using 3 Tier.
The issue is that the processes for connection server and dllhost started by IIS. Just grab more and more memory and never seem to release it unless IIS or Webi is restarted. I have read about an issue where this happens and you can get around it via setting the application protection to low. However I was under the impression that the issue was fixed in SP4.
Has anybody had any issues like this and what it any is the resolution.
We have a similar problem. The connectionserver.exe process keeps growing in memory usage. Once it reaches about 1 gb, I kill the process which automtically respawns it. The respawned process consumes about 17 mb, and the growth cycle starts all over again.
I have an open case with BO, but no resolution so far.
A little progress in our case - I was able to reliably reproduce the problem when I refresh reports from the 3-tier client. If I take the same report, post it to Corp Docs and then run it from Inforview, the connectionserver.exe memory usage does not move. With some testing, I found that the amount of memory consumed is directly related to the amount of data being retrieved by the report.
I ran through the scenario on Infoview but I never see the process dllhost.exe when I monitor things through Windows Task Manager on our Infoview server. Do I need to look in a different place?
Futher development on my case - BO replicated the problem with the connectionserver.exe process using my workflow. I am awaiting the official bug number.
You should see the dllhost in the processes tab of task manager, if you show the user the process belongs to you can track it down easier but you should have a dllhost.exe.
Just out of interest what level of application protection have you got set in IIS for wiasp?
Got a response from Business Objects - bug number 1104278, “ConnectionServer.exe process continues to consume more memory when reports are refreshed in 3-Tier BusinessObjects”
I have requested a hotfix and have been told that I should expect a 4-6 week waiting period.
We are having the same issue (IIS on Win2003)… starts at 15Mb and grows to 1.6Gb or more, in a matter of days. You can just kill the process and it immediately respawns (back at 15Mb).
BO support tells us that a patch is nearing completion.
Same issue with ConnectionServer.exe process (Win2003, IIS6, BO651). have to kill this process almoust daily. Hope to get patch asap, so if anyone gets this patch would you please let me know.
We installed the hotfix on our dev system yesterday. So far so good, but we will be testing for several days before moving to production. If anyone comes across any issues, please advise and I will do the same.
Make sure to do UAT Test, and take a backup of Files which are changed so that In case of issue you can Unpatch.
We got one of patch regarding Dllhost memory issue and resolved in Dev. environment and Testing but when we deployed patch in Production other functionality did not worked which we thought not to test.
At last we have to do Difficult Unpatch
Check this link for patch uninstall
We are also experiencing the same problem also on 6.5.1 but on a jsp (apache/tomcat) configuration not IIS. Does anyone know of a solution or about a hotfix that works? [/img]
