WI 6.1a/ Problem in printing WebI report saved as .xls file

We are on BO/WI 6.1a. I can download a webi report and save as an excel file. I can open the report in excel and it looks fine. When I try to print it, I get the error message “Microsoft did not find anything to print”. We are on Win 2000/SP3.

Appreciate any help…

I can’t say that I know what the problem is, but I do believe there were some fixes in 6.1b that addressed some Excel issues.

I tried it in 6.1.b and it works fine. If you can open the report in Excel, why is printing from within Excel a BO problem? (Just curious)

Firstly, it is not happening with all the reports. So, I am suspecting it may be due to formatting issue from Webi to .xls format. I can print any other Excel report (.xls) file.

Thanks,

Ashwini

Our users are experiencing this error as well. What is funny is that when I save the document to excel after running the report in Webi, I don’t get this error. I can print the document fine. However, I have asked 3 users testing the reports and they all get the error message “Microsoft did not find anything to print”. They then have to click on the report tab to print it.

It probably isn’t a BO problem but it could be. It could be changing some settings in excel.

Hi,
We are running BO 61b and using a customized webi app to display reports in HTML, EXCEL and PDF. We are having the same problem as reported in this thread when we try to print from the Excel file that is displayed – ‘nothing to print’. I also went into the out-of-the-box Infoview and did a save as for an .xls and then tried to print from within the opened file and had the same error message.

Have there been any new discoveries on this issue? THanks!

got the same problem with 6.1.3. it looks like the Excel Sheet is not activated.
If you click on the sheet name in Excel, the sheet is activated and can be printed. Also the problem happens only with some reports. Got no solution either :frowning:

Thanks Mark,
Where is the spreadsheet name that you mean to highlight? The only place I see the name is in the very top line. What I have been highlighting is the top left corner box - between the Row/Column label. This morning I was successful in printing twice but not a number of other times … I can’t tell what is different between the times it works and those it doesn’t!

Hi,
just click on the tab of the worksheet on the the very bottom.

Just had the same problem with a user. They were getting “Microsoft did not find anything to print” error with our Web Intelligence V6.5 SP2 install.

But all we had to do was select the workbook and that made the spreadsheet visable for printing. The Workbook tab was dim gray, but I didnt notice… once you select the workbook it turns white and it is ready for printing.

yes - that’s exactly what I meant by clicking on the tab of the worksheet

I’m quite sure it was communicated to us that this bug would be fixed in 6.5. Obviously it is not :frowning:
