Where to Create Dashboards

We recently upgraded from BI 3 to BI 4 SP5. We haven’t created any dashboards yet but would like too.

From the research I’ve done, it appears Dashboard Designer was removed in SP3 but the functionality is now built into BI workspaces. Is this correct?

I can’t find anyway to create dashboards in BI workspaces. I founds ways to add existing dashboards to a BI workspaces and tried that. However, I either get the error ‘This version of BI Workspaces does not support visualization modules (gauges and graphs)’ or a grey box where a graph or chart should be. The third party we bought our licenses from included sample dashboards with the product. I suspect the samples won’t work as they were created in BI 3.

All the documents and youtube videos I’ve found show how to use Dashboard Designer. Obviously, these aren’t useful since we don’t have that since we have BI 4 SP5.

Can someone tell me how to get started with creating dashboards or point me to some documents that explain how. Note, since our license is through a third party we don’t have a login to SAP’s document site. So I need public documents.

Thanks,
Scott

I don’t see anything called Design Studio.

I reran the installer to see if I missed a component but it appears I selected everything.

The client tools I have are:
Business View Manager
Data Federation Administrator Tool
Information Design Tool
Query as a Web Service Designer
Report Conversion Tool
Translation Management Tool
Universe Design Tool
Web Intelligence Rich Client
Widgets

The applications I have in BI launch pad are:
Analysis edition for OLAP
BEx Web Applications
BI Workspace
Crystal Reports for Enterprise
Module
Web Intelligence Application

Thanks,
Scott

Hi,

Design Studio and Dashboard design both are separate installation, you can get trial version of Dashboard design for 90 days from SAP website.
