Where did the Deski Forum Go?

Since Desktop Intelligence is really almost identical to prior desktop client versions we merged all of the Deski forum posts into the Business Objects Classic forum. That forum was then renamed to BusinessObjects Desktop.

We have also implemented our new Topic Label feature in this forum as an experiment. When you create a new topic you are allowed to enter a version number, as shown:

If this technique catches on, we can implement it for other forums as well. Selecting a label allows you to do two things. First, the label appears on the list of topics in just about everywhere you can find them (on the index, in the forum, in search results). Second, while viewing the Desktop forum you can filter the topics shown to a specific version.

Note that we did not try to flag all of the older products by version (4.x, 5.x, 6.x) as they were already lumped together in a single forum. But all Deski posts from the former Deski forum have been assigned a label.

In xi they removed the thick Client
In xi R2 deski was introduced again (Thanks to The European)
In xi r3 both Clients exist
In Xi 4.0 deski was removed
In xi4.1 deski is introduced again.

I disagree:

XI R1 was targeted at old Crystal customers and therefore did not include Deski. It was communicated that for existing BusObjects customers of v5 and v6.x that XI R2 would be the way to go.

Deski does NOT make a come back in SAPBI4 (DCP), read the official notes from SAP including all the drawbacks etc. Deski is dead, see also: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-31798
