I’ve searched the SAP site for documentation. I find installation and upgrade information but nothing on their actual user guide documentation. Specifically I wanted a CMC user guide.

I’m looking for a “USER GUIDE” for XI Central Management Console. I’ve found an Administrator’s guide but can’t locate a user guide. Tried both links posted here and nothing (actually the first one requires a login which apparently I don’t have access to).
Thanks so much to anyone able to assist!

From my point of view the CMC isn’t an end user tool.
You can restrict access to the CMC by providing a departmental setup. This way you can provide limited rights for people who want to reset passwords, grant authorization, define the security setup, etc.
I agree the title “Administrator’s guide” is confusing from this point of view. You don’t need Administrator rights to execute the above tasks. But… all these tasks are described in the Administrator’s guide. So I’m afraid that’s the manual you’re looking for…

Thank you for the reply Mayo. I agree with your point of view that CMC is not an end user tool. However, in our organization we have 3 levels of “users”:
We are currently in the process of upgrading from Crystal Enterprise 10 to XI 3.01. Both System Administrators and Developers will have access to the CMC where users of reports will only be allowed access to InfoView. We are trying to identify the roles and responsibilities for System Administrator vs Developers mainly in the CMC. With the security in XI being much more granular than CE, this will be a bit of a challenge, and I would be very interested to hear how your organization has structured and managed this.
For example, in CE we’ve allowed developers the ability to create customized calendars, events, etc. Can you provide me some information on your organizations structure?
Thanks again, I appreciate the feedback!

We do allow developers to access some parts within the CMC.
You can easily do this by applying the “No access” level on the “Top-Level Security”.
In some cases we do allow “View” rights on the “Top-Level Security”. On a deeper level we can than grant some additional rights (depending on the requirements).
The “Full Control” level is for many cases too powerfull, so we have defined some addition “Access Levels”.
We normally define access on folders and groups, but (almost) never on objects. The calendar is an exception, because there’s no folder structure available for that type of object. In this scenario developers can’t create new calenders; they can just update existing ones.
Good luck!

Trying to find a guide on what and how many services are recommended to be running based on the number of users accessing BO Platform.
If anyone can point me to a direction to the document of if you have one available I would appreciate it. thx
