What is Vintela?

Hi all,

Can anyone please provide some info regarding Vintela? Is this obtained through a seperate download or installaed when installing BO XI?

We would probably need to use Vintella for Java SSO…

I appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Jon

I think originally vintela was a 3rd party authentication plug-in but now is included with the installation of XI 3.1. No separate download is needed.

[quote:1670d4d47d=“From a paper on sdn.sap.com”]Vintela - 3rd party SSO tool packaged in with Business Objects products since XIR2 SP2 to provide quick easy SSO
configuration. Since it is OEM’d no external products need to be installed for SSO to work.

You are welcome, I am dealing with Vintela/Windows AD SSO since last week…

Are you using Win 2008 R2 as the BO server by any chance? It’s because I had difficulty setting up SSO on R2…

Windows 2008 R2 and SAP BI 4.0, plain vanilla installation (all on one server/Tomcat, but for CMS DB & Audit DB).

If you have any documentation on how to setup SSO on BI4 and R2, that would be amazing for me.

It’s pretty much spelled out in the manual, admin guide for SAP BI 4.0

  • You need a Windows AD account with TRUST for KERBEROS delegation rights (or something like that). Make it local Admin for your SAP BI server, etc.
  • Create via SETSPN the services on the Windows AD domain controller.
  • Run SIA and Tomcat under this Windows AD account
  • Make changes to the appropriate files for Tomcat (to enable Vintela for Windows AD SSO), see Admin SAP BI 4.0 manual
  • Configure Authentication via CMC
  • Restart Tomcat
