Hi Suneer,
the profiler repository is used by the Profile Server for doing Data profiling (statistical analysis and insigh tinto the data content and relationship, Min/Max values, Frequency Distribution, Pattern Analysis) and Data QUality Assessment tasks.
A good component to quickly get detailled insight into the content of your tables and use this information to measure the quality level.
Take a quick look at the SAP BusinessObjects Data Services Tutorial (xi321_ds_tutorial_en.pdf), what should be installed on your client machine with the documentation set. Or you can find it on the SAP Help Portal in the BusinessObjects - IM Solution section --> Data Services 3.2.
The Chapter 10 Data Assessment, contains a good overview.
If you have set up a Profile Server you can do much more detailled data profiling including also Pattern Alanysis and Frequency Distribution.

Hi Neils ,
Data Assessment and profiling of tables could be done, even without creating a profiler repository…
What is stored in profiler repository then???

Profiler repositroy stores following information
1 - Profiler tasks, that are created when a profiling request is submitted from Desginer, from the Management Console you can monitor the progress and execution of these task
2 - Profiling result (data), when you profile columns of tables, the summay and detail information will be stored in profiler repo, along with the sample data for each profiling attribute (this from where the profiler results are displayed in Designer)

Thank you for your reply…
Do I have to associate the same JOB SERVER, which I have associated to my Local Repository, for my Profiler Repository???
There has only been one Local Repository (one developer) and one Job Server… I have associated the same Job Server to my Profiler Repository… How do I go and see the contents now…

Suneer
