Westuby's Service Management Intelligence?

Hello,

My company thinks about Westbury’s Service Management Intelligence. Now we are using Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 2. I was asked to get more knowledge about SMI. I’m reading information on their site but honestly can’t find information where is the point?
Is SMI only a kind of engine for BO or it is another implementation of BO?
We’ve got a lot of reports now - after migration - would those reports work with SMI? Or we would rebuild them once again?

Has anyone done this kind of migration? What are in practice advantages of this kind of migration?

We’ve got very huge efficiency problem with BO. we would like to eliminate data loading process between HPSC and BO Data-warehouse. We would to find solution (if it is possible) that reports will take data straight from HPSC.

Another thing - is it possible to use Rich Client with BO Ent. XI Rel. 2 or we need Rel. 3?

Thanks a lot,
Regards,

This feature is only available for XI3.X

My understanding is the SMI is a suite of Universes and Reports built on Business Objects architecture for ITIL and Service Management. The Universes and reports are built over the HP system.

I have seen the Westbury universes used at one client in particular and they have been customised further. The client is only using a handfull of the original reports bundled.

They are also using the Universes against a copy of the production database due to some impacts in performance when reporting directly.

Cheers
