WebIntelligence and DAS workaround?

Hello,

Whenever I send documents to WebIntelligence via Doc Agent Server, I am unable to view the reports in WebI. When I open them I get a “This page is empty” error. BO tech support says that this is a known bug (although I am not sure which piece of software is the culprit).

Is anyone else having this same issue? If so, do you know of any workaround? Thanks.

The work around is to hit the refresh button and this will refresh the panel and you should be able to view the reports.

This solution stinks!! We had raised this problem during the beta test but it went unnoticed. The recommendation given to BO was to refresh the Corporate Docs, and Universes on OPEN.

Thanks for your reply. Since refresh works for you, we must have something else wrong with our configuration. If I open a BO 4.13 doc which I have sent to my inbox via Doc Agent Server, I get the “This page is empty” error. When I hit refresh, I get a “can’t bind to report server (returned by function Import Report)” error. Hitting refresh again causes the same error except it is returned by the “Get list of OLAP Security Prompts” function.

If I publish the doc to Corporate Docs and try to open it, I get a “Communication error Unable to open document (returned by function Import Report).” Refreshing here gives me another “can’t bind to report server” error. Also, I notice that the size of the doc in Corporate Docs in only 1K compared to the original size of 51K in my inbox. Finally, I am not able to save the doc to Personal Documents.

I imagine all of these issues are related. Is this just a matter of tuning the system or is it more serious than that? Our main need is to feed WebIntelligence with reports coming from Doc Agent Server, so we are very interested in getting this working. Are we close?

Chad, We were getting the same error “can’t bind to report server (returned by function import Report)” when we tried to refresh a report that was sent to corporate or the personal in box from a BO 4.1.2 or 4.1.3 client.

What we had to do was re-install webi using an ID that has a local admin right on the machine. The important thing is, this ID, besides having the regular local admin rights on the machine, it should also have:

  • the right to act as part of the operating system and * the right to log on as a batch job.
Once we reinstalled with this local admin right we were able to refresh our documents.

Hope this helps.
