WEBI2.0 installation problem

Dear BO-experts,

we have installed WEBI2.0 successfully on an NT4.0 server running the Microsoft IIS3.0. After we upgraded to Microsoft IIS4.0, WEBI2.0 gave an error message after typing in Username and password. We un-installed BO and WEBI2.0 completely and re-installed it, but we still get the error message: “The Login call has brought a non CORBA exception.”. Did anyone encounter the same problem or is able to give me an advise how to solve the problem.

Thanks a lot in advance.

When installing ISS4 chose custom install and check the scripting option. This is not a default but is needed to successfully install WebI.

We have had our share of WEBI problems, especially from uninstalling and reinstalling the application. We have gotten the CORBA exception error many times. I believe the product has some serious issues when uninstalled and reinstalled (not to say it installs well out of the box). If you had WEBI 1.0 you need to check for a WebIntelligence Applet (which is in the Windows/Downloaded Program Files directory) that has V 1.0 as part of it’s name (delete this V 1.0 Applet), also make sure that the hard drive where you have WEBI installed has a lot of available space.

We had WEBI running on IIS 2.0 and it ran most of the time. In trying to make it run better we installed IIS 4.0 and now WEBI doesn’t work. When I say doesn’t work, i mean that we can’t get signed on - entering our id and password on the sign in panel just redisplays the sign on panel. This is a current problem that we can’t figure out.

-we still get the error message:
“The Login call has brought a non CORBA exception.”.

We adjusted the server’s heap settings by editing the registry to overcome this error. There is some information regarding this issue on the CD in the readme.txt file in the Server folder. There are also a couple of tools that BO provides to facilitate this change.

The scripting option of IIS4 is required to automatically add the WebIntelligence directories to the web server.

If the scripting option is not installed prior to the WebIntelligence installation, you will have to add the directories manually to the web server, as described in the WebIntelligence System Administration Guide.

We have had our share of WEBI problems, especially from uninstalling and reinstalling the application.

We had WEBI running on IIS 2.0 and it ran most of the time. In trying to make it run better we installed IIS 4.0 and now WEBI doesn’t work. We have seen some cases where the Authentication setting of WebIntelligence 2.0 (in the Administrator Tool) is incorrectly set. By default, it should be “BusinessObjects standard”, but in particular on IIS 4 it is sometimes set to “NT Challenge/Response”. If this is the case and you haven’t set up the web server accordingly (see the sys admin documentation for details), then set it to “Business Objects Standard”.

Check as well if your IIS4 is set to use NT Challenge/Response only. If this is the case, the setting mentioned above has to be set accordingly to “NT Challenge/Response”, and your Repository has to be in sync with the NT user accounts. Again, please refer to the sys admin guide for details. As for the migration from WebIntelligence 1.0x to WebIntelligence 2.0, I recommend the following:

-make a back up of the webi 1 installation, in particular the Storage directory, as it contains the Personal Documents -deinstall webi 1
-(optional: go into the registry with regedit, and remove the entire webintelligence entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects) -reboot the machine
-install BO 4.1.3 from the WebIntelligence 2.0 CD -install WebIntelligence 2.0
-run the servonf.exe
-reboot

BTW, IIS 2 has never been a supported web server for any of the WebIntelligence versions.
