You can work in offline mode? If you want to access DB data sources then you require connectivity, either via the BOE webserver, or via ODBC on the client.

Hi Mak.
I found something related to 3-tier architecture:
I dont want to setup ODBC connectivity for each user.
Req : User should be able to access universe thru RC. (Same as Launchpad)
Thanks…

Hi Mak,
I have created an OLEDB connection for SQL Server DB. And then created a Test UNX universe based on this connection.
But getting below mentioned error message when I am trying to run query based on this UNX.
Database error: (CS) “Unable to connect to the InfoStore” . (IES 10901) (WIS 10901)
Note : Able to run query in Dev but not able to run in Prod, Is this related to firewall?
Please suggest and sorry for confusion

I think it is possible thru Network Layer “Oracle OCI”.
Thanks.

Oops, my bad…sorry, forgot about JDBC connectivity.
Steps for set up:-

Also there is a trick whereby the whole tnsnames entry is put within the connection. Search for smart connections, I think, which is what one person’s company calls them.

Vey interesting Nick, I haven’t heard of that either, before, will have to check that out 8) .
Semms like it has been around a while, but unclear whether it can still be used. I found this old post:-

Just I had a word with SAP team regarding Oracle connectivity.
He suggested me to install “Oracle Net client 32-bit” on BO Server for Rich client.

It can still be used.
