I’ve worked my way through various topics for a few days and am coming up blank, so hopefully someone can help me to explore this issue further.
Some background info:
We use .NET Infoview and AD authentication on WinXP SP2. CMS DB is on SQL Server.
BOXI3.1 FP1.7 (please don’t suggest upgrading, there are reasons for us not doing so, we also have at least 50% of the Webi RC users with no problems)
We had some users issued with new machines some months ago and found that when they tried to run Webi Rich Client it got to the ‘Please wait while you are authenticated’ stage and then just stopped.
As they were purely Deski users it was left as unresolved.
Last week, I was issued a new laptop (I’m a BO power user and the system admin) and lo and behold, when I try and log into Webi Rich Client it also hangs on the authenticting screen.
Through a number of internet searches I’ve come across a number of possible fixes, none of which have worked so far.
(It should be noted that I have my old and new machine next to each other on the desk currently, the old machine can still log in, the new one can’t, the profile is a roaming one so should be the same.)
disable/setup exceptions under Access Protection in McAfee for WebiRichClient.exe
Delete lsi files in Docs and Settings\user\Application Data\Business Objects\Business Objects 12.0\lsi
Update C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with IP of BO server
Tried to launch Webi Rich Client from Infoview. This gives ‘login failed’ error (which is what lead me to the solutions above re: lsi files and host file)
Really appreciate any assistance, my primary job is report development manager so this is really causing some issues with not being able to get on with anything!
Nothing of note or even seemingly related to the Webi/BO process.
As Webi is seemingly still trying to authenticate, there is no ‘error’ to log as such.
Even if I try and log in via Infoview and force the ‘Login failed’ message, nothing is added to the event log.
Is there a way to force full audit event logging for Webi?
P.S. I’ve had a 30 min exploration with our second line ICT support and they’ve confirmed that machine and group policies are the same between my old and new machine.
Ok, a quick update, I had wondered if our McAfee Access Protection was preventing some files being installed from the temp folder so I’ve just performed a full reinstall with Access Protection disabled.
When I try to run Webi Rich Client it still hangs trying to authenticate but it will run successfully in standalone mode
