Webi Query on Top of Bex Query - SQL selects all key figures

Hi,

I have a question on the SQL being generated from a Webi report on top of a bex query.

We are on XI3.1 SP2 fix pack 2.7 and SAP BW 7.01 SP5.

My Bex query was setup on the advice of SAP to be very open and has 3 key figures (2 are in the cube, one is calculated) and a number of free characteristics.

When I create a Webi query with one characteristic and only one of the 3 key figures the SQL generated in BW is still trying to pull back values for all 3 key figures in the Bex query. As one of these is a Calculated key figure this slows down query response markedly (proved by taking the calculated key figure out of the bex query which speeds all queries up tremendously).

My question is can this be stopped? SAP have advised installing SP3 and using query stripping - will this stop the SQL selecting all key figures in the query?

Thanks

Ian,

Welcome to B  B!

Instead of SQL don’t you mean MDX?
Query stripping is Designed to stop this behaviour. You have Webi report level and query level stripping in SP3
