I put Webi on Production server (webi 2.0.3 & bo 4.1.3). I am also in the supervisor as user.
When I log on to WEBI (it is set on NT Challenger response) I can view the universes, when I go to create a document, I get a gray screen, without the query panel.
In test server it went right to the query panel, I was able to build reports, refresh them, send them to other users etc.
Which Web Browser are you using, Internet Explorer 4/5, Netscape etc.

I have had mixed success with this, but I did find one way to make it work where it had been failing to load the applet…
If you go to settings, control panel, add/remove programs… Select internet explorer, and then go to add components… I have found that reloading the virtual machine helps, more than I can explain. We have always had it selected in options, but I found (by accident*) that this almost always makes the applet refresh correctly.
Which version of WEBI are you using. I initially installed 2.0.1, I selected created a document, I then selected the universe, then I got a gray screen. This is because IE5 is not support by 2.0.X, there is a fix for this, you need to amend the WebPanel.wis file.
I can send you the exact procedure if it’s any help.
We’ve recently upgraded to 2.0.7, the above file contains the correct code, no amendments are required.

If its IE5, I have had similar problems…

One thing that I checked on the production server was “svrconf.exe” could not find the file.
Aris, I haven’t experienced your problem, but I’d like to suggest that you make sure that you have your BOMain.key file in both the WebIntelligence and BusinessObjects LocData subdirectories: \Program Files\WebIntelligence\wiqt\LocData\ and \Program Files\BusinessObjects\LocData\
Also, it may just be a typo, but the executable you’re looking for is “servconf.exe”, and you should find it in: \Program Files\WebIntelligence\System\bin
Thanks, but we did use the updated .WIS file (in 2.02)… it seems to be more tied to java, how that interacts w/ Webi. This has happened sporadically in 2.02 and 2.51.

If you are going from 2.0.x to 2.5 it is a good idea to physically delete the applet through your browser (under IE follow menus and buttons-, View, Internet Options, Temp Int files, settings, view objects and then delete the report viewer and other WebI applets). We experienced the panel problems mainly as a result of the old 2.0 applet not being replaced by the new one.
It’s probably not a bad idea to do this even when moving between point releases. Remind your users to do it as well

Virtual machines configs and Java applet’s is the technical jargon you might be hit with
However experience has shown that this typically happens when users have updated IE3.0 -> IE4.0 without deinstalling IE3.0 first If you can deinstall IE, and reinstall without having to call in the big IT install guys who take a month of sundays, and a heap of explaining this could be you best bet, it always orks with us.
