I’m tring to determine why Corba is not starting up on our Webi environment.
I am completely new to the appllication and don’t have any kind of documentation on this system thus making this very difficult.
Does anybody have a cheat sheet that can explain how webi starts up within a Unix environment working with iPlanet.
It looks like when it tries to start up it will claim to start Corba but it doesn’t. I have check the boconfig.cfg files and and they are all telling it to start port 14999. Is there a way to start this manually? The start script will output the following:
…
WebIntelligence 2.7 - Start
…blah blah Copyright
ORACLE: ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/8.1.7.3 ok
** WebIntelligence started on Port 14999
When I check the WebiServer.log it will show all the environment vars being setup and the Licence key information being valid to 2060…
Then it will stop just after that stop only outputting
VisiBroker: Unable to locate agent. Will try every 15 seconds to locate agent
DSUser:: Unable to contact agent. Make sure there is an agent running on this ne
twork
WIOrb : oad started : PID=29336
VisiBroker: Unable to locate agent. Will try every 15 seconds to locate agent
DSUser:: Unable to contact agent. Make sure there is an agent running on this n
… then only VisiBroker …
I have also check all the open ports on the server using netstat -an and port 14999 is not open. I should see it open with a IDLE status.
Any assistance would be help full
If anybody has a doc to help explain how webi operates or anything they think might be usefull. Please post back to this thread…
The webi was working fine with port 14999 a few weeks ago but were not sure why it corba won’t start anymore. Were at the point were we are bring the vendor in to the picture the help us figure out this problem. Once we figure out what was up I’ll post something incase others have this problem.
Did you recently install any other software on the WebI server? Since you are particularly having trouble with Corba – is it possible you added some other software that has a different version of Corba than WebI’s?
Well, that wasn’t quite my question. I’m not questioning when WebI was installed on the box.
Instead – since you’ve just started having trouble, I’m questioning whether some other piece of software – for example Tivoli – was installed recently on that machine – that could be causing a Corba conflict.
As far as I can tell nothing was installed. Now that doesn’t mean somebody pushed something an is not owning up to it.
the last time anything was updated on the server was well over 45 days ago and these apps that were updated should not be interfering. Also they aren’t running on the server at the moment.
