Webi <=> Deski frustrations

Dear,

I used versions 5.x, 6.x for the last 7-8 years and really felt at ease with it.

Now since a few months I’m using Webi in XI3.1 Edge and I miss a lot of the functionalitly I used to have in the desktop environment.

  • slice and dice panel
  • query filtering on the result of another query
  • calculations are more limited
  • copy/pasting in webi is cell per cell, in desktop you can copy/past entire row
  • more options on breaks/section in desktop

…do you agree with me or am I missing something?

As a developer, it’s quite ok as it’s my job and I can find a workaround for some things in order to let the report do what it’s expected to do. But for an end-user, I find that the Desktop environment was more user friendly.

What are your thoughts?

=> so Rich Client could solve some issues then…do I need to install Rich Client on the pc of every user? How does it work? I’m new to this stuff.

=> secondly, Webi times out a lot and it’s ennoying…I changed the settings in CMC like I found in several posts here…but it still times out at critical moments (although less than in the beginning). Is there a way to keep connections almost permanently in Webi untill you logoff? Or is this utopia?
