WebI hyperlink prompt not working

I am trying to create a WebI report with a hyperlink to another WebI report based on the value of a feild. I have it almost working, but the last part has me stumped. I have searched BOB, BusinessObjects Tech Support, Tech Tips, the 2002 User Conference presentations and BO documentation on all CDs I have. I probably have missed something simple.

I have a master report that has a hyperlink column in it based on a universe object. It is supposed to link to a detail report in the repository that has the same object in it with a prompt on that object. I run the master report and get an error screen “Please reply to all prompt(s) before running the query:”, I select the appropriate value and click “Run Query” and the detail report is generated. How do I eliminate the error screen?

The select portion of my linking object is:
’+ CFG_Rank_Code.ShortDescription+’

document name = ShortRankLink

object name = ShortRankLink

document ID = 45

Database table.field = CFG_Rank_Code.ShortDescription

WebI version 2.7.1 Database is SqlServer 2000 in 6.5 compatibility mode.

Hi, Lee;

In the properties of that object, did you check the box that says “Read as HTML”? You need to do that in order for it to work.

Unfortunately, yes; that was one of the many issues I solved thanks to posts here. This is the first time I have tried this and I got most of my info from BOB.

I believe, and I am not certian, that it is an error in the way I am trying to fill the prompt for the detail report.

Lee, I see one minor error in your code. Try this:

'<A HREF="http://boserver01/wi/bin/iswi.dll/WIGenerator/wigenerator/generator/OpenDocument?sDocName=ShortRankLink&amp;sDocType=W&amp;iDocId=45&amp;sRepo=Document&amp;sOpen=Y&amp;1sSShortRankLink='+ CFG_Rank_Code.ShortDescription+'" target=widocview>'+ CFG_Rank_Code.ShortDescription+'</A>'

I changed your Y&Is to Y&1s. That may be the problem.

Actually, I think they were correct before.

They should be lsS (LSS).

Alot of people have been reporting a problem with this in 2.7.1+

I’ll give it a whirl over the weekend and see what I can figure out. I haven’t had any problems so far.

Are you sure? I got that from a BO manual. Of course, that wouldn’t be the first error I’ve found in a BO manual. :stuck_out_tongue:

What manual did you see that in?

Steve Krandel :us: (BOB member since 2002-06-25)

Advanced Designer training manual.

Michael, unfortunately 1sS does not work. I get a WI0100 error when I use it. I am willing to try any more suggestions.

Lee, do you have WebI SDK?

When I was playing around with this last summer, I found out that there were different values in the syntax for non-SDK installations. And the syntax you present looks like it might be the SDK version – although I think Steve said the syntax may have been switching around in the last couple of service packs.

At any rate, here is a post with they syntax that I was able to get working without SDK.

Thank you all, I found the problem. It was a “chair to keyboard interface problem”.

I created the prompt in the detail report incorrectly.

Good job, Lee. There’s nothing like making a big fuss over a situation, only to find out that we caused it by some silly mistake. I’m quite experienced at that.
