Hey Folks,
I have a lot of experience in XI R2 webi reporting. The new project works on SAP Business Objects 4.0. Wanted your inputs on the learning curve and how different is reporting on XI and 4. Does it require major unlearn/learn? Will I be able to skip XI R3 completely?
Your inputs will be much appreciated.
Thanks a lot

I am clueless my self. Any experts out there

From my point of view you can skip SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.x and start learning SAP BI 4.0 (as I prefer to call it).

Thanks!
Can you highlight come key areas I should look at? I hear reporting on SAP is very effective on BO BI 4.0.
Also for some one from an relational/oracle backend experience how different is SAP as a data source?

SAP BW as data source is completely different (no SQL, but clumsy unwieldy MDX, etc).
For starters I would focus on:
Web Intelligence and its new hierarchies
IDT, the successor to universe designer

Seems like I am up for a lot of hard work!
Last question - As with most products you think things will get better only after 4.1 is out? What has your experience of 4.0 been like?

I hardly was able to put my hands on 4.0, so someone else will have to pitch in.

I am a SAP BI consultant and working on SAP BO from past few months.
And I can not agree more that the product will get stable only after the release of 4.1.
We have many bugs right now, but we can’t complain as it is still in ramp up stage and not yet released.

Andreas,
Having never seen v4, could you please expand a little about what you mean by ‘new hierarchies’.
Thanks…
