WebI Admin Login

Another WebI installation, more problems…

Has anyone received the error message “Cannot Connect to Cluster Manager”? The NT id I login with has all the appropriate priviledges. Curiously though, the oad.exe process is not running although the WebI services start successfully. When I try to stop the services it is unsuccessful and I have to logout and log back onto the server. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Jodie

I’m also running into the same problem. If I try to go through Administrator over the java interface through IE I continually get Cannot Connect to Cluster Manager. If I try it from the server it can connect. oad.exe is also running on the server when I try to connect. I was able to login without any problems…I think my problems arose when I went to 5.01 from 5.00.

Did you verify that the webi services are connecting with the correct user? The error guide says to verify that the user spec’d in your services login has the login as service, act as part of the operating system, logon as a batch job… Is that set for both webi services?

Also, did you create a new user here? most of the time the user is forced to change the password on login - a lot of times this works ONCE, but then fails because the login / password is incorrect.

Good luck
Brent

Jodie:

If this is a new installation, check the machine and verify that it only has one network card and adapter installed.
-right click on Network Neighborhood

  • select properties
-click on the adapters tab … there should only be one.

Next
-Click on the protocols tab.
-double-click on the tcp/ip Protocol
-select the drop down box and verify that there is only one adapter to select.

If there are more, remove all except one and reinstall webi

Cheers,
Ketan

That was it Ketan! There were two adapters installed. I removed one, uninstalled and reinstalled webi and everything is working fine now.

Thanks for your help!

Eek! Multi-homed traumas…

you CAN turn the adapter back on after the install - if you do, please report back to the listserv how it works, under 2.0x this caused a lot of problems…
we have had a 2 nic’d server* in our test environment, but it doesn’t have any nodes attached, so I don’t know if this works better yet - it’s supposed to, but I would feel better if I had some feedback.

Thanks,
brent

  • our backups run on a separate network, and we get dinged by our network community if we don’t follow this setup.
