I just install Edge on my local machine. during the installation I only be asked provide administrator account for Server Components Configuration and database.
After installation, I can login CMC, InfoView, Designer using same administrator password, but login to Web Intelligence Rich Client failed.
Message: Login Failed.
Is there a place can reset Web Intelligence Rich Client login password?
I’m getting the same error, but in my case I know it is not a bad password, because when I purposely type in a wrong password, it tells me “Incorrect user name or password”.
I haven’t been able to find out the source of problem, but I have noticed that installing Crystal Reports 2008 after other BO products can have unexpected results.
Let me know if you have found the source of the problem, and I will do the same.
Can you log in via an HTTP connection? i.e accessing the Rich Client through an Infoview session?
Can you access on another machine?
Maybe, you have corrupt *LSI files on your local system, try deleting these and try logging on again.
Have you ever managed to log in successfully?
Crystal can play havoc with BO connectivity, is that, or has that, been on your machine?
Can you log into Designer?
Have you tried uninstalling, re-booting, then installing Rich Client, again?
Hi ,
in my office some of my colleagues are facing similar issues. We use webi rich client. everything was fine a month back, then suddenly they started facing logon failed issues. not everyone has the issue. Some of us are placed at geographically different site and even some of them have started facing this issue, after the first login failed they havent been able to login even once . We access webi through office intranet. It was found that when logging in as a PC admin then it gets logged in, where as when loggin in through a user account, it gives login failed error. Meanwhile we also tried deleting .LSI files or replacing them with the one on the machine where webi works fine. also we tried replacing the .INTRANET and EXTRANET files, but to no use.
just to mention we tried reinstalling as well, but the successful login through PC admin account has puzzled as…
Thanks in advance!!!
the issue in my case was resolved by granting admin rights to the folder…
in corporate intranet users are not having admin rights to the installed folders .hence there may arise an issue in such cases
Ever since a week or so, one of our BO-admins can not login to RichClient anymore. When he uses another account to log in to his PC (not necessarily an admin-account) the login succeeds. The same as you posted earlier this year.
Can you clarify what folder you are talking about?
I have a version of the same issue. The specifics: I had to change my network password last week. Since then, if I login to Rich Client while connected to the server, it works fine with my new password. If I login to Rich Client in “offline” mode, I have to use my old network password. So I surmise that somewhere locally my old password is being stored but not updated.
Hi Linda,
Thanks for posting. We found the solution yesterday, but were puzzled about the why and when. Even after your post, we still don’'t know the exact reasons (we change our network passwords every 3 months and never experienced this issue), but… hey, at lease you gave us a spark.
Our solution to this problem: delete the userprofile on the PC/ network (depending on the IT-architecture of your company). Hopefully this will help you as well.
The answer is no. We asked our supplier and they didn’t come up with that idea. In the end, we decided that deleting the network user profile would be the solution (there’s not that much BO backend knowledge). And so it was. But anyway, we shouldn’t be deleting any files. Should we?
To keep our protocols up-to-date, should we replace the profile deleting with deleting the LSI-files? And if yes, what is the advantage?
Only if you face the issue? It will save you deleting the profile?
LSI (Local Security files can become corrupt.
Successfully logging on after generates new ones, they are a very old concept and used to speed up the log in process.
I did not delete my .lsi files. But there was an additional wrinkle to my issue. It was caused by the old “save for all users” gotcha that is frequently encountered on DeskI. Even when I logged in offline with my old password, I could not open any of my local reports since report security is embedded in them. So I logged in offline with my old password, saved all my reports for all users, then logged out. From then on I logged in with my new password and everything works fine.
I had this issue the first time I ever tried to log in to the Rich Client. Turns out all I needed to do was type the local server name in the System box above the username box. It was blank by default.
