hi friends,

      I got very different problem in Deski XI R2.( data base : oracle) See the attachment.

Please help me in this . I am new to Deski . I hope i will get help from you all.

Prabha,
Please post any queries as a question (not snapshot).Snapshot can be used to make more illustrated but solely using snapshot is not ok.

Please right the problem first(to be emphasized “in words”).

now about your problem.

Thats called drill in Business Objects.You have to create hierarchy in Universe and then you have to choose option for drilling.Your problem will be solved.Please read a little about hierarchy , drill in Designer Guide…

      Thanks for reply. Yes your suggestion is good .I know Drill in Deski but to solve this i think that is not solution .  I will try to explain my problem.

      I have one table. On one column i want link . If i click any record in that column it has to display complete information about that record. Say if i click on department name(sales) then in other dialog box i have to view the details of the department  Sales( dept number, dept name, manager name, location) . Like this if i click on other department then i need to get that department  details.   But here all the department details has to come from one parent table ie Department table.  

   I think you got my problem. If you know any clues please let me know.

Just to add to Ajit’s reply, there are drill filters which gets created in drill mode which should give you the desired output.

Prabha,
Your answer lies in Drill/Hierarchy/aggregate awareness.I hope if you will read these three topic thorughly in designer guide you will be able to get your answer.

Please have a look in designer guide for these 3 things :).

First design the report and get it into drill mode.
After that you will know what are the features that get enabled in it.
Click on any column in the block with magnifier and see the effect.
Then come back with further queries.

Look at the OpenDocument function (see this thread here to get you started) for linking to a different report.
