UTF-8 Locale error

I am trying to install BO XI 3.0 on Linux RHEL 5. When running the install script I get the following error:

locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_COLLATE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_COLLATE to default locale: No such file or directory
The current locale(??) is not a valid locale on this operating system.
Please change your locale to one using UTF-8 encoding and try again.
Thank you for choosing Business Objects.

The locale has already been changed to UTF-8. Any ideas of what the fix might be? I have already tried to change the LANG to en_US.UTF-8, but that did not work. I outputted the error message and have attached it to this post. TIA.

Did you set all this environment according to the installation manual?
I had troubles with this few months ago, and i had to set this variables each by each on the profile of the bobj user.

I don’t remember clearly, but i think it should be an LC_LOCALE or LC_ALL variable.

Can you remember exactly what you did? I contacted BO but they were no help since they said RHEL 5 is not supported. I looked through the documentation, but could find no mention of the issue I’m referring to.

On page 30 of the Unix installation guide are the settings for LOCALE and on the guide are all steps to follow.

I installed it on a RHEL4, but i don’t know if there is so much different, but keep in mind that if it is not supported, does not make sense to install BOE on that platform, you will never get support that way.
