Using text in report versus Live Office

Hi all,

I want to make a report with

  • tables
  • charts
    and pieces of text.
The text is the main report with the additional tables and charts…

To do this in Deski seems a bit tricky since i only see
a cell as an option to insert text.
This of course has very limited options.

The ideal situation would be where i would be able to approach the whole
as ONE document (among others: from a lay-out point of view).

A nice option would be if values would go beneath a certain point to be able to adjust the text accordingly…

Is all this possible in Deski or do i have to use Live Office (never seen it, only heard OF it) for this purpose or possibly another plugin?

I would have a look at Live Office for this.

You may find the dynamic text piece difficult to do, depending on how much text you wish to be dynamic…

Hi, thanks for your reply

The “dynamic” text pieces would be the name of schools, extracted from certain cells, and about one sentence, like “your school is above avarage” or something along those lines:)

You think i should be able to do this in Live Office?

How “user friendly” is Live Office by the way?

You may be able to do something with an alert. I presume you would be looking at Word to do this, rather than Excel. This would make any additional logic difficult to implement on the destination document.

Live Office is fairly easy to use. My one bit of advice is to completely finish the Webi doc before implementing in Live Office.

When I used it if you changed the Webi doc, after inserting it, you would lsoe the linkeage of the report parts in the destination MS document.

i’ve seen some comments about this losing links in Live Office…

Thanks for the info!
