Using the tab set components and my tabs do not show the full name of my tabs in my preview of the dashboard, they show “…” BUT when im in design mode they show just fine. I tried looking at their properties but cant find anything? Attached is a snip of how they look in preview. Thank you
I run into this issue when either the resolution for the dashboard does not match the monitor and/or not maximizing the window when viewing the dashboard.
Do you usually export your dashboards as html to be viewed on launchpad/infoview? I see you talk about exporting to html quite a bit. Was just wondering what you mean by that?
My dashboards are (currently) completely independent of Business Objects. I design them with Xcelsius 2008 on my pc, get the data directly from the databases via SQL and export the dashboards to HTML on our webserver. The users simply pick them up via the intranet or a URL. Most of my dashboard consumers are not Bobj users, so intranet hosting is more user-friendly.
Since Design Studio 1.x apparently doesn’t allow me to consume XML directly, I expect I will end up tied into a universe again. But since I can’t even get the product to install right now, I suspect that’s way down the line!
Was this question for me? If so, I get my data via aspx files which host SQL. This fires against the database and either runs on demand (when I pass user-selected variables to the query) or via a scheduled batch file. In either case, XML is generated which the dashboard consumes via an XML connection.
Just wanted to chime in on this…
NycPriya,
Yes, got the t-shirt. Tab set labels are full text and look good in designer, but after export to SWF, you get the F… short labels. Hand in hand with the accordion component UI probs - I think they have the component fixes planned in release version 6.6 SP 6. Go figure… Or should I say Go F… It’s not like your using too long of a word, I could enter “Pie” as a label and it would turn out to be P… And yes, it’s not all the time, but you shouldn’t have to babysit component integrity.
At least you get one letter… sometimes. Nothing like a good game of charades on executive dashboards. Gives the VP’s something to do while you’re tap dancing and spinning it as an auto-abbreviation enhancement.
If deploying to HTML is the only way to go, then it’s a show-stopper as it needs to be hosted and our solution needs to be exportable.
Best way to use this container is to create a BFLabel on top of it, check the “show fill” box and set color to match the background.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed in the latest versions of SAP Business Objects Dashboards? Currently on 4.1 SP5 Patch 11 (which is the patch SAP issued for the XML bug I found).
I’m finding that there are now lots of different user screen resolutions and I’d really rather publish the SWF than the HTML, since it rescales beautifully and just looks so much nicer - apart from the tab text not displaying fully.
If SAP has fixed the tab text issue, I’ll look at upgrading - but can’t see the point otherwise, given that I’m on maintenance-only now with SAP dashboards.
