I tried installing the OLEDB SSAS 2008 driver, but no luck. BO didn’t detect it either in Universe Designer or Voyager. However, by using SSAS 2005 driver I was able to generate a Universe.
One question - How to manually create the Universe? Because the automated Classes etc that were generated are not in line with the Cubes and Dimensions, I tried to delete them which happened - but then I saw no way of adding stuff from SSAS Database back to BO Universe… Any ideas?
We have SSAS 2005 cubes. For now we dont have Voyager or OLAP Intelligence to directly create reports on those cubes. To give a try I am thinking to create Universe on SSAS cubes. We are using Business Objects XI R2 .I dont see any drivers provided in the Universe Builder.
As you had already tried this could you please explain how and what you did to create universe on the SSAS cubes ..as I am in the similar situation where you were .
We also have a new requirement to use SSAS 2008 as a datasource for both Webi and Voyager. Even with the appropriate 2008 drivers loaded, BO Xi 3.0 doesn’t see the new cubes.
The nice folks at SAP tech support informed us that 2008 is not currently supported and there are no plans to support it with SP1. Our even friendlier sales rep says it WILL be supported in SP1. Go figure.
On a positive note, we have been able to access the 2008 cubes with the 2005 drivers. Universe designer builds the expected structures, and the reporting tools behave properly. Apparently the differences between 2005 and 2008 are fairly minor. I’m not sure I want to go to production with this situation, but we seem to be alright for development.
