As far as I can see to using the OpenDocument function requires the URL (including server and port number) to be specified.
This is not a problem, however, the reports I am writing are in a development environment and are then propagated through to a test and production.
This means at each propagation stage I need to update the URL to reflect the correct environment.
As such I was hoping to use the security domain or repository name so the URL server and port number can be automatically identified.
Is this the best way forward? If so, how do I identify either of the required values in a report? I can’t find the required function(s).
Further to this problem using the Hyperlink function. Each time I include an object from the data provider the whole URL string is displayed rather than require display text. [function syntax 'Hyperlink(URL, DisplayText)]
By seperate “environment” are you referring to different domains, or different Webi servers?
If you’re using different Webi servers, you can include some logic in your formula to test for the connection, using the Connection() function, and choose the correct server name based on that. This would be done using If . . . Then . . . Else logic.
Thanks for that. It may be a good solution, although I will need to test it in UAT and PROD and that may take afew days to happen!
I now have another issue regarding the Hyperlink function. It seems as soon as I add a variable from a data provider the complete URL is shown rather than the display text. Is this a known bug? How do I get around it?
I don’t know if this will work, but right click on the column, and choose Format Cell. Then check the little box that says “Read as HTML” at the bottom of the box on the Number tab.
