I’m looking for some help from all the B.O. gurus out there. We currently imbed Business Objects 4.1 in a VB application and with 5.0, wanted to use Report Viewer to replace the current way of doing things. However, I have done some checking and it looks like Report Viewer can only be used to access reports in a repository. Is that true? We do not currently use a repository, so if we really want to use this functionality, we may have to start using one. Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated.
I guess Report viewer can pull documents only thru WebI.
We also have similar rquirement of viewing BO reports from VB. We did some research and gave up the idea of using that.
Finally we are using scaled down version of BO full client for viewing. Using BO SDK we remove all the unwanted menu items and tool bar items from BO. From Visual Basic we start BO and customize the desktop. That works pretty fine.
Problems with Report Viewer are:
It does not maintain all the formatting mainly fonts. It doesn’t print properly.
